About Ella Fitzgerald
Ella Jane Fitzgerald is often referred to as the "First Lady of Song" thanks to her impressive vocal range that spans three octaves. She is known as one of the most influential jazz singers of the 20th century with her pure tone, interesting vocal inflections and amazing ability to ‘scat’ along to jazz music in a similar way to a horn, from which she is known to have taken her inspiration. Ella Fitzgerald’s career lasted fifty-seven years and she won thirteen Grammys in recognition of her talent as well as the National Medal of Art awarded to her by Ronald Reagan, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom given to her by George H. W. Bush. Some of Ella Fitzgerald’s songs include Blues In The Night, Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye, How High The Moon, Johnny One Note, Love Is Here To Stay, My Funny Valentine, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Oh Lady Be Good, Someone To Watch Over Me, What Is This Thing Called Love and Summertime.
