Hi gang! please can you have a look at why, everytime I try to record, your test says I don't have a mic? I have a built in mic which is switched on and working! in your output/input tests the bars move when I speak into my mic so your set up part works but when it comes to recording there's no detection of my mic and it's really frustrating! I've been trying to enter the karaoke comp and I really want to sing! please help? |

Hi Juliana. I'm sorry you're experiencing problems - these issues are normally easily fixed. What type of computer (pc or mac?), operating system (windows XP, Vista etc) and browser (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 7) are you using? I need this info before I can give you instructions on what to do. Thanks |

Juliana, please can you try the following? First go to your Windows control panel and check the setup of your microphone/speakers. They both need to be set to the same frequency (ie 44.1Khz). (On some laptops there is a special sound app on the panel at the bottom where you can apply these settings). If the mic and speakers aren't at the same frequency it will muck things up. Once you are happy that these are set to the same frequency, then go to the Record page on our website and click on the "Audio settings" link, located on the left hand side of the page. In the drop down box choose Windows Audio. You should then be able to choose the correct mic and speakers for your system. (Test using the visual level meter for mic, and test button for sound from speakers.) If all this works then you should not have to do the mic setup everytime, it should just work for you. Please let us know if any of this is unclear or doesn't work and we'll continue to help. |

Hi Juliana, I think we've found a solution for you. What may be happening is that your in-built mic and speakers are too far away from eachother to be able to pick eachother up during the sound test. To fix this problem, you can plug a pair of external speakers into your laptop and place them close to the mic during the sound test - this will ensure your speakers detect your mic. If this isn't an option, you could try closing your laptop halfway during the sound test - just enough so that your inbuilt mic and speakers are close enough to eachother in order to complete the test. Then you can open the laptop as normal to do your recording and everything will work just fine. Let us know how you get on! |

Hi, well I've tried everything, but I'm not having any luck! all your tests pick up my mic, all the settings are correct, but when I click on record a box pops up saying no signal detected!? and that's where I'm stuck! I've even tried to do it on a macbook and had loads of problems that way too! I'm at a loss now as to how to get my singing recorded on to here. Thanks for your help btw! |

For anyone that reads this: we resolved the problem! believe it or not, the mic that comes with the xbox game "rock band" is the only mic I can get to work here! but hey! it works here so that's good!! If you are totally stuck, try it! |

Having the exactly the same problem but don't have an xbox. Do have a new mic interface on the way so maybe I'll give that a go when it comes. |

Deanne, When in the recorder click on 'Audio Settings' in the left sidebar. Click on the boxes titled 'output' (Speakers headphones) and 'input' (Microphone). If there is more than one input try changing it and running the test again. Let us know if you're still having problems. |

Did this. Got an imic interface this week. Agaim, the the bar is registering that mic signal, and I can hear the test beep, but the test still says that no signal is detected. Then, the test window won't close, even if I leave the site, and I have to close IE in my task manager to make it go away. |

Hi Gwendoline. Have you tried following Phil's advice above and going into the Audio Settings on the recorder page? Let us know. Deanne, sorry you're still having problems, I've passed your message over to the tech guys who will get back to you. In the meantime, please try adjusting the audio settings as Phil described above without doing the test first. This might just fix the problem. Best Wishes, PureSolo |

Gwendoline, please make sure your mic is close enough to the speakers when you run the test. If you're using a built-in mic on a laptop you have to almost completely close the lid for it to work. The signal bar needs to move up quite high to detect the sound. |

Hi Gwendoline, sorry you're still having problems despite our best efforts. We had to create the mic test for Windows XP users because we found that without it, the age of the Windows XP operating system meant that it lacked the speed to allow PureSolo recordings to be in time with the backing music. PureSolo members who aren't on Windows XP don't have to take the test at all. Do you have access to an alternative PC with more up-to-date software? |

Yes, a laptop, (brand new - Windows Vista)but the sound quality of the backing tracks is not good. AND the sound comes in and disappears mid phrase. Impossible to record. I am not a happy customer. |

Hi Gwendoline. To clarify, when you play tracks on your windows Vista machine, the sound quality is poor? This is a separate issue which again, our tech team will look into for you. We are doing all we can to help you. |

The track seems to start well, then stop, breaking up and starting again a few seconds later. I have tried to determine whether the coming and going is in time (ie. the track is still playing but sound breaking up) or if it is just stopping and starting. It is really difficult to tell and again very frustrating. |

Hi Gwendoline, could you make sure that both of your machines meet the system requirements listed on our FAQ page, under "System Requirements" section? In particular, what is your Windows Vista Experience Index? |

Hello again Hanna. I am SURE that BOTH of my machines meet ALL of your system requirements listed. My Windows Vista Experience Index is 3.1. My issue is still mainly the mic test on my PC. My mic is working, my PC shows me that it's working, your status bar shows me that it's working, but the test says it is not there. The test is flawed...don't you think? |
