Check your computer's power options to make sure you're not on power saving mode. Use a high performance setting. Use mains power when recording. When starting Vista, wait for 5 minutes before trying to record as Vista is very busy for the first few minutes. Also, make sure you haven't got an anti-virus scan or windows update running.
